How sleep position affects your sleep

Habitually, some people like to sleep on their side, some people like to sleep on their backs, and others like to sleep on their stomachs. When sleeping on their side, you need to consider the width of the shoulder, so those who like to sleep on their side should choose a higher pillow. Those who like to sleep on their backs can choose a slightly lower pillow. Fewer people like to sleep on their stomachs, and this is not the right sleep position.

How To Choose A Suitable Pillow

1. Side sleeping position:

Sleeping on your side with the wrong pillow can interfere with sleep and even cause severe neck or back pain. Side Sleeping position is the most common sleep position, in fact, it is the most comfortable way to sleep. People who are used to sleeping on their side are suitable for higher pillows because higher pillows can fill the gap between your neck and mattress and support your neck and head. When you sleep on your side, your pillow needs to be high enough to make sure your spine is straight. If your pillow is not high enough, it will cause your spine to bend and affect your health. People who sleep on their side also have a worry that long-term sleep can lead to a reduction in the height of the pillow. In order to avoid this, it is suggested that people who sleep on their side should use memory foam pillow, which has the characteristics of softness and good support performance, and will not lead to the decrease of pillow height for a long time use.

2. Back sleeping position:

People who are used to sleeping on their backs are suitable for lower pillows. Lower pillows can fill the gap between the neck and the mattress. If the pillow is too high, it will lift your head high. As a result, your neck bends upward, potentially straining muscles, nerves, and discs. Conversely, a pillow that’s too thin will result in an uncomfortable downward bend in your neck. People sleep on their backs can choose a retractable pillow to prevent neck wriggling and pulling. When you sleeping on your back, gravity will pull your head to your left shoulder or right shoulder, and keep your head straight, which effectively reduces the possibility of neck distortion.

3. Stomach sleeping position:

Try to avoid sleep on your stomach, because this is a wrong sleeping position and cannot be maintained for long. Sleep on your stomach will bend your head and spine upward unnaturally. Staying in this position for a long time is bad for your back and neck. And can lead to serious discomfort and even insomnia. It is suggested that this sleeping position be changed, and maintaining this sleeping position for a long time can have a negative impact on your health. If you can't change your sleeping position, people who sleep on their stomach need a pillow with a lower height than a normal pillow. If the pillow is too high, your spine will bend to an angle that is more likely to cause pain, or numbness.
